What is odosketch?

Odosketch is a Flash drawing application that we first launched in August of 2006 for an Adobe Design Gallery feature on Odopod. After that, we left the tool open for anyone to use and as of our most recent launch, over 19,000 sketches had been saved.

We are always thinking of new ways to improve odosketch and will continue to release updates as we make them. Check back frequently to find out what's new.

What happened to sketches I've already made?

Don't worry, your sketches are safe. We've imported all work from the previous version of the odosketch application though they are all attributed to "unknown." Currently, there is no way to 'reclaim' it, but you can clone it into your account. If you have the url of your previous sketch, you will still be able to access your work.

How do I create and save my sketches?

It's easy to create a sketch and you do not need an account to get started. Just click New Sketch from the homepage and you will be taken to a blank canvas. Mouse over the toolbar at the bottom of the canvas to choose colors, brush strokes, and other options.

To save, just click 'save' in the bottom toolbar. You will need to sign up to save your sketches. If you do not have an account, you will be prompted to create one upon saving. Follow the simple steps and your new sketch will be saved to your account.

What is cloning?

Cloning allows visitors to build on top of sketches, adding elements to work that has already been created. To clone, simply view a sketch and click 'clone this sketch' in menu at the top of the canvas. Once you clone a sketch, a copy will be saved into your account where you can begin to make your edits. We're keeping track of which sketches are clones and which are originals. Cloning is a great way to work collaboratively on a sketch.

Remember, anything you draw can be cloned and sketched on top of!

Why must I sign in?

In order to save and clone sketches, you must have an odosketch account. Once signed in, you will have access to your basic user profile where all of your sketches will be saved. To visit your account, click on your user name in the upper right corner of the site.

How are featured sketches chosen?

We feature sketches that we find particularly appealing and if you see something great, let us know and we might feature it.
